Most Sacred Heart School Technology Update

MSH’s vision for technology is to provide teachers and students with access to modern equipment and software which maximizes students’ learning opportunities.  This includes providing staff with the ability to do their work efficiently and effectively as well as the ability to communicate with students, parents, and peers within our community.

Each teacher received an iPad in August 2013 to use in support of teaching and learning in the classroom.  We envision more collaborative learning where teachers will be able to concentrate more on in-depth study using project-based learning when appropriate.

PHASE ONE (“all teachers will begin using iPads in the classroom”) continues as we educate our staff in the use of the iPad and incorporating it into our smart board classroom education.

PHASE TWO began in October 2014 when all 4th graders received their own iPad to use at school and at home.  They used their iPads in all classes and created projects related to their studies.

The remaining classes had a cart of iPads to share and used these iPads to create storybooks, design virtual science biomes, and research ancient Greek Gods with interactive websites.

PHASE THREE will begin August 2015 with all 4th and 5th graders having their own iPad to use at school and at home.  (Spring 2015 iPad surveys from students, parents, and teachers overwhelming reported the success of our 2014-2015 one-to-one iPad program.)

The remaining classes will have a cart of iPad 2 minis to share and use across the curriculum, enriching the educational experience for all students.
