Most Sacred Heart Catholic School

A Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School

Weekly Newsletter May 18, 2017

Friday, May 19th is the Last Day of School

School will be dismissed at noon tomorrow for the summer.  There is no After Care tomorrow.

Have a healthy, happy, and holy summer!  We look forward to seeing you again in August.

Back to School Packets will be available the first weekend in August.  The 2017-2018 school year begins on Wednesday, August 16.

Most Sacred Heart Middle School recently completed its third year of Trout Unlimited’s “Trout in the Classroom” program. This year was our most successful year yet. The program begins in September with the arrival of some 300-500 trout eggs. Within the next three weeks, the eggs begin to hatch and the trout grow and develop in the cold water tank for the next 8 months. The middle school students of Most Sacred Heart help in the maintenance of the tank and get to trout1watch them grow before their eyes. This year we released 98 young trout at Westover Farms in Steelville, MO. These trout range in size from an inch and a half to almost 4 inches and will continue their development in the spring-fed waters until they are able to enter into the main river system.

Field Day “Thanks”

A big “Thanks” to all the parent Volunteers for Field Day.  We couldn’t do it without you!

Congratulations to the Dunahoo/Woeltje Family who placed 1st!

2017-2018 New Science Program

During the 2017-2018 School Year, MSHS Grades K-8 will be piloting the MySci science program. Developed by Washington University in St. Louis in partnership with the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Saint Louis Zoo, and the Saint Louis Science Center, MySci is dedicated to instilling a love for science in students.

With its kit-based innovative instructional materials, teachers can improve student learning through hands-on, investigative resources and support. The lessons and activities are integrated across subject areas and are aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards. Each unit emphasizes STEM learning through scientific and engineering practices, focuses on a core disciplinary idea appropriate for the grade level, and encourages students to make connections about the crosscutting concepts that unify the study of science and engineering.

We are excited to pilot this program and look forward to implementing it next school year!
